PASSIVE VOICE

Passive voice is grammatical construction, which subject in sentence receiver of action (bentuk gramatikal, yang mana subjek dalam kalimat menerima/dikenai aksi).

 

Pattern of passive voice is :    Subject + be + V₃ + Object

                                                                                                      

Many Tense in Passive Voice :                                                   

1.      Present Tense  ( Waktu Sekarang )

Pattern       :

 

   S + be (is/am/are) + V₃ + Object

                       

·         Is  ( He, She, It) 

·         Am ( I )

·         Are ( You, We, They )

Example    :

All people are gathered here to discuss the funeral ceremony.

(semua orang dikumpulksn disini untuk membicarakan upacara pemakaman ).

2.      Past Tense ( Masa Lampau )

Pattern     :

 

   S + be (was/were) + V₃ + Object     

                                                                    

·         Was ( I, He, She, It )

·         Were ( You, We, They )

Example  :

The gallery building was renovated by the government in ten years ago.

(Gedung galeri di renovasi oleh pemerintah sepuluh tahun yang lalu).

3.      Present Perfect Tense ( kejadian masa lampau dan masih berlangsung pada masa kini )

Pattern   :

 

  S + be (has been/have been) + V₃ + Object

                                                                                        

·         Has been ( He, She, It )

Example :

The Borobudur temple has been restored by the Indonesian government an UNESCO since 1973.

(Candi Borobudur di telah diperbaiki oleh pemerintah Indonesia dan UNESCO sejak 1973).
